We travel through villages and share the creativity our locals have with their mailboxes along the River Road!
As our mail run begins, from picking you up at your accommodation, we travel 14km to the turnoff into the Whanganui River Road. The first stop is the lookout at the gentle Annie, we travel on the pastures of the Maori Land, mist covering the beautiful scenic landscape, the cliffs far below and a glimpse of Mount Ruapehu if Mother Nature allows then past Oyster Cliffs, lush
The Whanganui River and Road are both rich in history and legacy. You will meet some interesting folks and hear about the Historic gestures of life in years past to now. Join us on the Whanganui River Road Mail Tour, and experience the rural native bush, amazing scenery, different species of birds, wild goats and pigs and the most beautiful peacocks even a deer or two.

We visit historical places as we travel the River Road a stop at the Marae in the Koroniti, the Matahiwi Gallery with local arts and crafts, a visit to the Old Flower Mill and Jerusalem (Sisters of Compassion) the old St Joseph’s Church and the Convent rich in history of Sister Aubert and James K. Baxter the famous NZ poet as we embrace the history of the Maori legends from then to now living in the valley.
It is challenging and very exciting! Pack your hat, sunscreen, notebooks and camera and have a time never to forget.
